Courtney Baker

AUD, CCC-A

Dr. Courtney Baker is a neuro-audiologist licensed in Illinois, California, Indiana, Massachusetts, and New Mexico. She specializes in central auditory processing evaluation and treatment, aural rehabilitation, tinnitus, and sound sensitivity.

Dr. Baker earned her Clinical Doctorate in Audiology from Northwestern University

and completed her clinical placement at Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital in

Hackensack, New Jersey. She further developed her clinical specialization in

Central Auditory Processing during a post-doctoral fellowship with

Dr. Jeanane Ferre, a nationally recognized expert in the field.

In 2024, Dr. Baker started Hearing Brain Audiology to holistically address each patient's hearing concerns. She chose the name “Hearing Brain" to highlight the importance the brain plays in how we hear. At Hearing Brain Audiology, treating the whole person, not just the auditory system, forms the foundation of our practice & and is intentionally included throughout the evaluation and therapy process.

Driven by her passion for holistic, evidence-based care, Dr. Baker takes a personalized approach to each patient's journey. She crafts individualized treatment plans for each patient that address the full spectrum of challenges related to hearing loss, central auditory processing deficits, tinnitus, and sound sensitivity.

Our services include:

  • Central auditory processing evaluations & treatment
  • Aural rehabilitation evaluations & therapy
  • Tinnitus therapy
  • Sound sensitivity treatment

All services focus on evaluating and strengthening the brain's ability to detect and process different auditory signals.

Beyond patient care, Dr. Baker is an adjunct professor at Northwestern University and actively involved in new research. She has contributed to several textbooks & served as the topic chair for neuroaudiology for several national audiology conventions. In 2025, Dr. Baker was invited to sit on the committee responsible for setting clinical competencies for the American Speech & Hearing Association.

A Chicagoland native, she now lives in Uptown with her significant other & her dog, Muggle. Dr. Baker is an avid runner and often participates as a charity runner, including the Chicago Marathon in 2023.  She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and going hiking.
